
Project Overview
Taoyuan Metro Corporation actively supports the Railway Bureau’s smart railway development policy by participating in the “5G Smart Railway Transportation and Monitoring Environment Development Project.” Leveraging 5G high-speed broadband network applications in project test sites, from 2021 to 2025, the company is implementing Taoyuan Metro cloud computing platform construction, multiple IoT application projects, and 5G capability demonstrations, such as real-time operational data transmission, automatic anomaly alerts, and unstaffed stations.
Moving away from traditional closed system architectures, the project adopts an edge-network-cloud design, achieving integration and interoperability between information technology (IT), operational technology (OT), Internet of Things (IoT), and 5G wireless networks. The system collects large-scale data including control commands, temperature, voltage, current, and passenger flow, uploading it to the cloud platform. Following the Railway Bureau’s standardized classification system, this enables data integration and real-time data sharing through data subscription and publication technologies.
Implementation Benefits
This project establishes standardized specifications for “communication protocols,” “communication interfaces,” “data formats,” and “data coding,” promoting industry-wide adoption of these standards for data exchange and resource sharing in the rail industry, achieving the following benefits:
