Medical Services in Remote Areas 2.0

Smart Medicine in Fuxing District

Considering the lack of medical resources in Fuxing District, the City cooperated with the central government to promote the “Integrated Delivery System Plan (IDS Plan) in Mountainous and Islands Areas” by Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, St. Paul's Hospital, Gao Yangwei Clinic and Fuxing District Public Health Center. Through the development of smart medical care via technology, the dilemma of insufficient specialist physicians in remote areas will be reduced, and the intelligent and localized medical care in remote areas will be implemented to provide better health care for residents in Fuxing District.

  1. Medical Stations and Circuit Medical Services
    Circuit medical services are provided. In addition, “Hualing Medical Station” is set up in the mountains of Fuxing, providing 24-hour emergency, 3-times-a-day outpatient clinic, and 3-times-aweek circuit medical service. As of December 2023, a total of 158,109 patients have been served.
  2. Telemedicine
    Telemedicine consultation has been implemented since 2019, among which the dermatology consultation was made available first. Through the cloud video function in conjunction with handheld digital diagnostics set, microscopic examination and transmission of medical images can be performed simultaneously; alternatively, by the remote-control instrument integrated with the medical information system HIS doctor order, doctors stationed in Fuxing District and local patients are allowed to have instant consultation with the specialist doctors of Linkou Chang Gung memorial Hospital. A total of 1,322 consultations were performed in December 2023, among which contains 69 patients with high-quality teleconsultations to the locals.

Coastal area medical network service plan to Xinwu, Guanyin and Dayuan Districts

Taoyuan City has promoted the medical network service plan in coastal areas since 2019. Through four major services including mobile outpatient clinics, teleconsultations, Advance Care Planning (ACP) and home medical visits, the authority has actively brought medical resources into the community and benefited remote areas with accessibility and convenience of medical treatment featuring professional care by large hospitals for locales.

  1. Mobile Outpatient Clinics
    outpatient clinics features arrangement of medical staff entrance to communities to lower the hassle from transportation by the residents of the coastal areas and to enhance the accessibility to medicine. 2 circuit medical services available at designated locations are held biweekly, and bimonthly health lectures are held. As of December 2023, a total of 6,943 patients/participants have been served.
  2. Teleconsultations
    Teleconsultation, together with regional health clinics and cooperative hospitals physicians, combines technology to conduct teleconsultation in the form of video, providing specialist outpatient consultations in dermatology, orthopedics, neurology, cardiology and plastic surgery, providing immediate medical services, making medical services zero Distance, as of December  2023, the number of patients served was 60.
  3. Advance Care Planning
    Advance Care Planning offers “appointment-type” advance care planning consultation service available for appointment through the hotline or website. The professional team of the cooperative hospitals will provide consultation services and advocacy lectures at designated points. By December  2023, the advocacy was made to 1,472 participants. 
  4. Home Medical Visits
    To serve the elderly in the coastal areas of the City, for those with poor mobility, long-term bedridden, sit-in, or are economically disadvantaged, medical staff from health clinics and cooperative hospitals are specially arranged to conduct home visits in person to provide professional medical consultation or general diagnosis and treatment as a part of facilitating accessibility of medical care.605 people has been served by December  2023.
