Water Environment Patrol

Taoyuan has many natural water environments, including coasts, rivers, ponds and reservoirs, etc., all of which need to rely heavily on the assistance of Water Environment Patrol. Since 2016, Water Environment Patrol has been recruited. As of December 2023, there are 70 Water Environment Patrol teams (including Enterprise 2 (Micron, AUO )) with a total of 2,617 members. Both the number of teams and the number of volunteers are the highest in the country. The patrol team collaborates with 54 enterprise river adoption units to jointly guard the main rivers and coast of Taoyuan City, including Laojie River, Nankan River, Xinjie River, Shezi River and Dahan River, etc. The length of patrol reached 175.109 kilometers. country.

Guidance to Civil Patrols

Taoyuan City encourages environmental protection groups, companies and the community to take the initiative to set up Water Environment Patrol. It conducts patrol team visits and counseling every six months, and trains seed teachers and assists in reporting dirty spots. Through education training, rivers and beaches cleaning, volunteer training and other activities, combining the strength of the government and the people, we jointly maintain the water environment in Taoyuan. Through the adoption of sites, protection of wetlands, construction of riverbank trails/bike paths, maintenance of algae reef ecology, and the organization of related activities in cooperation with schools, the concept of understanding and caring for the environment is cultivated and put into practice in daily life.

Effects of Water Environment Patrol

From January to December 2023, Water Environment Patrol held 2,288 activities such as river and beach cleaning, water quality monitoring, and education on ecological conservation; 712 cases of hidden pipes and river pollution were reported and investigated; A total of 9,471 environmental inspections and cleanups were conducted; and 357 articles were published. The high-frequency patrols serve to deter malicious pollution. In the future, it can be expanded to environmental testing, ecological conservation and other fields, so that the water of Taoyuan City's rivers will become cleaner and the overall landscape may be beautified.
