Waste-to-Energy from Waste Treatment Facilities Plan

Taoyuan City actively promotes circular economy and waste recycling policies. Through the waste heat recovery and renewable energy generation plan for waste incineration plants, the BOO Refuse Incineration Plant (BOT), the solids-derived fuel production project for waste sorting, and the solar energy green power renewable energy project for public landfills, we are promoting the conversion of general waste into energy, increasing renewable energy production, and achieving the goal of sustainable energy.

Xinrong Waste-to-Energy Plant in Taoyuan City

Xinrong Waste-to-Energy Plant in Taoyuan City is the largest privately-owned waste-to-energy plant in the country. It processes 1,350 tons of waste per day, capable of handling solid waste and recovering thermal energy for electricity generation. The designed electricity generation efficiency is 24%.

Taiwan's First Three-in-One Biomass Energy Center

Taoyuan City Biomass Energy Center adopting the BOT measure can convert waste into recycled materials and products, and treat high-calorific waste such as kitchen waste and organic waste, and the power generation efficiency of the heat treatment unit. In addition, the power generation efficiency of the thermal treatment unit is much higher than that of the existing large-scale waste incineration plants in Taiwan. The concept of circular economy has become a demonstration park for biomass energy industry and resource recycling, which was put into trial operation in 2023.

Publicly Owned Landfills and Recycling Sites for Solar Green Energy

Solar optoelectronics power generation systems are installed in 5 public landfills, including Yongxing in Xinwu District, Houzhuang in Xinwu District, Yuanben in Yangmei District, Shuiwei in Zhongli District, and Cuo in Zhongli District. And Solar optoelectronics power generation systems have been installed at the public resource recycling and storage sites in Luzhu and Pingzhen districts with an expected power generation capacity of 3,230 kWh. The green energy generated can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 2.5 tons annually.

Mechanical Treatment (MT) Demonstration Center

To effectively manage large amounts of waste, Taoyuan City has planned the Waste MT Demonstration Center in Dayuan District. The center utilizes mechanical treatment to produce solid recovered fuel (SRF) for use as alternative fuel in boilers, achieving a waste-to-bioenergy conversion.
The only facility in the country that transforms large furniture and waste materials such as scraps into solid recovered fuel (SRF) for use as an alternative fuel in boilers, capable of processing approximately 30,000 tons of waste per year
