Silent Taoyuan Project

To address the issues of street racing and noise caused by modified vehicles, the Taoyuan City Government has initiated a cooperative and robust enforcement effort. A joint inspection and enforcement team consisting of the Department of Environmental Protection, the Police Department and the Department of Economic Development has been established to carry out the “Silent Taoyuan Project”.

Targeting about 50 noise-prone road sections and 120 modified vehicle workshops across the city, the team is conducting enhanced monitoring and inspections. Through four major control measures: “Joint Inspection and Interception by the Department of Environmental Protection and the Police Department”, “Enforcement of Sound Photography Technology”, “Reporting and Referral for Inspection Notice” and“Inspection and Guidance of Modification Sources”, will enhance the effectiveness of enforcement to curb noisy modified vehicles and maintain the quality of life and environmental tranquility for citizens.

Efforts are also being made to improve regulatory education for operators in the modification industry. A joint inspection and guidance team comprising the Department of Environmental Protection, the Police Department and the Department of Economic Development completed the inventory of modified vehicle workshops this year. The aim is to promote the lawful operation of automotive businesses and to strengthen noise control advocacy.
