Civil Cooperation in Coast Maintenance
Taoyuan City has a coastline with the length up to 46 kilometers, whose maintenance cannot be performed solely by the Government. Therefore, a Coast Guard with recruits of volunteers has been established.
Guard Staffing
As of December 2023, the Coast Guard consisting of totally 16 teams inclusive of 5 teams in Xinwu (Yongxing, Yongan, Bengang Community, Beach Seine Bay, Kejian), 4 teams in Guanyin (Shulin, Baiyu, Guanyin, Baosheng Community), 5 teams in Dayuan (Haikou, Gold, Xucuogang, Neihai Community, Beigang), and 2 teams in Luzhu (Binhai, Nankan Port) has been established. Each team has 20 to 60 people, and the total number of volunteers is 595.
Guard Responsibilities
Coast Guard: Responsible for coastal environment.
Water Environment Patrol: Responsible for river environment (Goal 6).
Environmental Protection Fleet: Responsible for sea drifting garbage.
Environment Protection Diving Team: Cleaning up underwater garbage through underwater operations.
Coast Guard will cooperate with Water Environment Patrol, Environmental Protection Fleet, and Environmental Protection Diving Team to protect Taoyuan's water resources and contribute to the water resources for the next generation.
